Pythagorean Relationship: I can: find squares and square roots of whole numbers; estimate square roots of whole numbers; determine whether a triangle is a right triangle; apply the Pythagorean Relationship (Ch 3)

3.1 Squares and Square Roots - I can determine the square of a whole number and determine the square root of a perfect square (p. 80). 
  1. Go over "Get Ready" 
    1. finish with table mates
    2. have those that are done check their answers with one another, then go help others until most of the class it done
  2. Guided Lesson Options (hand in your work by the end of the day):
    1. Explore the Math p. 80-81
      1. Read the intro on p. 80
      2. Do Q's 1-5
        1. Note, for #3 there is are examples on p. 82
    2. Definitions and "Show You Knows" (if groups are not productive on the Explore this may be the better option)
      1. Look for the 8 italicized or highlighted terms in the margins of pages 80-83 and write down a definition of each one
      2. Read the Examples on pages 82 - 84 and do all the "Show You Know" questions. 
      3. Check your answers with the Teacher when you are done.  
  3. Independent Assignment (due next class):
    1. Communicate the Ideas Q's 1-4 p. 85
