How can we use probability and percent to create engaging board games?
- Learning Goal A 2.1: I can show creative thinking
- Learning Goal A 3.1: I can work cooperatively and collaboratively with a team
- Learning Goal C 3.1: I can show percents that are: between 0% and 1%, greater than 100%, and percents that involve fractions
- Learning Goal G 2.1: I can use sample space to represent probability as a fraction, decimal, and a percent
Day Plan:
- Probability Game:
- First Round:
- Make a list of the numbers 2-12
- Write your initials beside 5 of the numbers and have your partner do the same
- Cross your initials off as either player rolls your number
- The first one to have all their numbers rolled wins!
- Second Round:
- Choose new numbers
- Repeat the instructions but keep a tally of the number of times each number is rolled.
- Third Round:
- Choose new numbers, keep a new tally
- Discussion and Debrief
- Board Game Time
