Day Plan:
  • Probability Game:
    1. First Round: 
      1. Make a list of the numbers 2-12 
      2. Write your initials beside 5 of the numbers and have your partner do the same 
      3. Cross your initials off as either player rolls your number 
      4. The first one to have all their numbers rolled wins! 
    2. Second Round: 
      1. Choose new numbers
      2. Repeat the instructions but keep a tally of the number of times each number is rolled. 
    3. Third Round:
      1. Choose new numbers, keep a new tally

Day Plan:
  1. Hand out folders for each Team. Teams should collect all their work in their folders and will hand them in at the end of the day. 
  2. Game Board Day. 
    1. We are still in the planning stages and I recommend Teams plan well and make as many decisions as possible before they start building. 
    2. Have Teams share with the class the plan for their board. 
    3. Teams are to fill in the "Project Management Log: Group Tasks" before they begin. 
    4. Teams are to remain seated together, or to move together to one of the small breakout spaces in the middle rooms. 
    5. Teams could work toward playing their game together at 2:40 to see how it plays.

    • Discuss the Chapter 2 Review with your Table Group and make sure you have met the Chapter Learning Goals:
      • 2.1: I can make equivalent fractions
      • 2.2: I can determine unit price and use it to find the best buy
      • 2.3: I can find a proportion and solve for an unknown 
    • You may use your Chapter Review and a calculator for the quiz
    • Please put your hand up when you are done the quiz and I will collect it
  2. Math Board Games
    1. Brainstorm and make notes on your board game design page:
      1. explaining the game
      2. explaining your plan for using spinners and/or dice
      3. explaining your plan for using cards 
      4. explaining the kinds of squares we could land on (positive and negative)

    2. Materials Manager and Reporter

  2. Board Game Planning Continued:
    1. On Your Own on a whiteboard answer the following questions:
      1. What are the events in your game that involve probability and how will they be involved in game play?
      2. How will you involve cards in game play? 
      3. How will you involve Math questions in game play?
      4. How could you set up the board to creatively incorporate all these ideas. 
    2. As a group share your thoughts from the questions above and write down everyone's ideas. Once you've written down everyone's ideas see if you can come to consensus on any of them or create even better ideas together by combining what members have already said (we will continue working on these next day) 
      1. your recorder will make notes and/ or draw a sketch on the big paper (there are 11" by 17" sheets under the blue organizer on the tall table if you need more)
      2. your materials manager will keep the big paper and get ready to share ideas with the class next day
      3. your leader will make sure everyone contributes to the discussion and help keep the team on task
